The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to kick off its 9th edition on February 17th, and several supplementary and replacement players have been added to the squads. The PSL 9 Replacement Draft took place over a conference call on Monday, and PSL teams have made some interesting choices to strengthen their lineups.
Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 2024
Peshawar Zalmi Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 9
Peshawar Zalmi has made some strategic replacements in their squad. They have drafted Waqar Salamkheil in the silver category to replace Lungi Ngidi, who will not be available for the entire season due to his prior commitment after being picked in the HBL PSL Draft in December.Â
Khurram Shahzad will be partially available, with Arshad Iqbal named as his replacement in the silver category.
To replace Noor Ahmed, who is unavailable due to international commitments, Gus Atkinson has been brought in.
Shamar Joseph, the West Indies pace sensation, has been roped in as a partial replacement for Gus Atkinson, who will only be partially available for Peshawar.
Lahore Qalandars Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 9
Lahore Qalandars have reserved their picks for Rashid Khan, who will be fully unavailable, and Dan Lawrence, who will be partially unavailable to the franchise.
Islamabad United Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 9
Islamabad United has also reserved their pick for Tom Curran, who will not be part of the side for this HBL PSL edition.
Karachi Kings Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 9
Karachi Kings have called in Zahid Mehmood as a partial replacement for Kieron Pollard. They have also reserved their pick for Tim Seifert, who will be available after the conclusion of the New Zealand T20Is.
Quetta Gladiators Supplementary and Replacement Players for PSL 9
Quetta Gladiators‘ Bismillah Khan will replace Wanindu Hasaranga after Sri Lanka’s Hasaranga leaves the squad during the tournament due to his international commitments.
PSL 9 Supplementary Round Picks
In the third supplementary round picks, Peshawar Zalmi secured left-arm pacer Luke Wood as their first pick, while Islamabad United bagged Obed McCoy, another left-arm pacer, as their second pick.
Karachi Kings chose English middle-order batter Leus De Plooy with their third pick, and Lahore Qalandars picked up Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa with their fourth pick, who had previously played for Peshawar Zalmi in the last HBL PSL season.
Multan Sultans went for the experienced West Indian wicketkeeper-batter Johnson Charles as their fifth pick in the third supplementary round. He has represented both Sultans and Quetta Gladiators in previous HBL PSL seasons.
Quetta Gladiators, with the last pick of the third round, drafted English batter Laurie Evans, who had appeared for Multan Sultans in the 2019 edition.
In the fourth round of the Supplementary picks, Multan Sultans secured the exciting 19-year-old Muhammad Shahzad, who was part of Pakistan U19 at the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2022.
Haider Ali was drafted into the Islamabad United squad, and this will be his fifth HBL PSL season, having previously played for two other franchises.
Quetta Gladiators reserved their pick in the fourth round. Peshawar Zalmi drafted left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who was part of the same team in the last HBL PSL season.
Lahore Qalandars picked up Tayyab Abbas, a product of their player development program, with the fifth pick in this round. Karachi Kings drafted 21-year-old Mohammad Rohid as part of their squad.
